India being one of the richest nations in the early centuries, India had maintained its trade relations with the foreign merchants even during the earlier centuries. But there was a great difference between the foreign merchants who had earlier settled in and connected brisk trade from India and the Europeans who came to India in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries.
Boundaries of South India were and are today also connected to the Indian Ocean. And sea-route being one of the best ways to enter into India at that time, all the European nations arrived into India through some of the ports build in the southern region of India.
